Stool #1: This stool uses a back lumbar support and an upholstered cushioning, as well as foot rests for comfortability on a chair as high as this. Issues that this stool presents pertain to the practicality of such a tall stool in a primary school environment.
Stool #2: The design of this stool is simple and effective. the circular seat allows for ease of varying positioning to collaborate with classmates around them. although the design is sufficient for the purpose of classroom seating, the aesthetic is plain and leaves little to be desired.
Stool #3: The corkscrew feature is the obvious reason for the interest taken in this particular stool. Having a mechanism in order to change the height of the stool would be incredibly helpful in a classroom environment as the height of students differs greatly, even amongst similar year levels, though this design was found on a government recall website, therefore significant changes would need to be added to the design.
Stool #4: Another stool with a height adjustment mechanism, though the functionality attributes greatly to the fact that the stool is made from metals and plastics. The footers on the end of the legs appear to give the stool a solid stability that is difficult to obtain in a similar project with wood.
Stool #5: Nice geometric square design with interesting metal highlights. The handle included in the middle of the seat allows for flexible movement of the stool to account for ease of relocation given the need. overall an appealing and effective design, though faces the same issue as other taller stools in that they pose a safety hazard for very young students, and are more difficult to incorporate into a regular classroom with tables set at a height for normal school chairs.
Stool #6: A good stool for younger year levels given the height, stable legs and vibrant colours for stimulation. Not a stool that would fit very well into a higher year levels classroom, but provides a good contrast into the differences that are presented when designing seating for varied age groups.
